According to MotorEasy, one in five UK drivers admit to not repairing their vehicle even if they know there’s a fault, as they can’t afford the repair cost. The money spent on repairing their car would be a lot less than the alternative, for example, paying fines when pulled over or even losing their license for certain violations. They would end up spending more money to fix any problem that develop from not repairing it in the first place.
While a vehicle is in operation, traffic laws require that certain equipment is properly installed and functioning correctly, including brakes, headlights, indicators, mirrors, windshields and seat-belts, to name a few. The Car Care Council recommends that drivers address these repairs immediately as they present public safety concerns that can earn get you points on your license!

In order to be safe you need to be able to; signal effectively – UK Law require vehicles to have functioning indicators as well as two functioning headlights and rear lights / taillights. Taillights must illuminate red; if a taillight is cracked, it can give off a white light, which is also typically a traffic violation.
You need to have maximum visibility, so if a windscreen is cracked, discoloured or tinted in a way that obstructs vision, drivers may get ticketed and fined.
A fully functioning exhaust is also important – a defective exhaust system that is too loud, either because it has been modified or because it needs repairs.
Something else you need to make sure is working/ visible is the license plate light – not for safety reasons but if the plate is un-readable, you may be made to pull over.
