The Alfa Romeo 164 (Type 164) is a large four door saloon released in 1988. The first versions were only offered in the form of a 3.0 litre V6 engine and later a 2.0 litre Twinspark petrol unit was added with options of either manual or automatic transmission. The range topping ‘Cloverleaf’ version had a 24 valve version of the 3.0 litre engine, tweaked to produce 230bhp. The 164 was designed by the renowned Pininfarina styling house and the first to use of computer aided design resulting in a light weight but very strong chassis.
