Launched in 1998, the Rover 75 is an executive car available as either front—wheel in its saloon and estate variants or as rear-wheel drive in its long wheelbase form. An MG branded variant was also released in 2001 dubbed the MG ZT. The Rover 75 was produced to compete with the market leads of the BMW 3 Series or the Audi A4 but failed to match these in the British car sales charts. Popularity of the car soon increased, ranking fifth amongst Britain’s most popular new car in April 2000. The Rover75 did, and still does, hold up very well to the Jaguar S Type.
