The LS400 was the Lexus brands first ever car and a leap into the unknown for parent company, Toyota. It was released in 1990 to rival the luxury ranges of established premium brands such as BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz with zero budget constraints. The LS400 Saloon car was powered by a 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine, with rear wheel drive and spanned two generations, the Mk1 (XF10) and Mk2 (XF20), until its discontinuation in 2000.
