The Fiat Barchetta is a two seater roadster first released in 1995. The Barchetta was based on the Fiat Punto chassis and running gear and because of this was quite economical to run. Only one power option was available in the form of a 1.8 litre petrol engine pushing it to 62 mph in 8.9 seconds with a top speed of 124 mph. This was Fiat’s attempt to break into the roadster market but never hit the heights of it's established competition which included the iconic Mazda MX-5 and BMW Z3. Some put that down to the fact it was front wheel drive, while it only being available in left hand drive didn’t help things in the UK.
