The Fiat 127 is a supermini car which ran from 1971 to 1983 as the replacement for the Fiat 850.
It was originally released as a two-door saloon with a three-door hatchback coming later.
The 127 was powered by either a 903 cc, 1 litre or 1.3 litre petrol engine and featured a unique transverse leaf spring suspension at the rear. It was an innovator in safety too, having an articulated steering column and crumple zones for crash protection.
Nippy engines and go-kart handling helped the 127 appeal to purist drivers, but it was far from perfect, having a cramped interior, poor reliability and a poor gearbox.
The 127 sold over four million before making way for the Uno.
