The Daihatsu Charmant (French for ‘charming’) is a small saloon car released in the UK from 1982 to 1987 based on the underpinnings of a Toyota Corolla.
Power came from either a 1.3 litre or 1.6 litre petrol engine and was connected to the road via independent front suspension and a live four-link rear axle.
A facelifted version was released in 1984 and was later superseded by the ‘Applause’.
