The Citroën XM is a large executive car that was produced between 1989 and 2000, launched as Citroen’s flagship saloon of the time, replacing the CX.
The XM had many advanced technological features such as Hydractive suspension, which senses how you're driving and adjusts the ride accordingly, giving impressive ride comfort with very little roll in the corners.
The styling has always been seen as ‘quirky’ to say the least but it is much more subtle than other models in Citroen’s history.
At launch, the power choices were 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre V6 petrol engines, with 2.1-litre and 2.5-litre turbo diesel engines added to the line up later in production.
An estate version was also later introduced but this did not help the gradually declining sales as despite being voted 1990 European Car of the Year, the XM sold only 330,000 units in its 11 year run.
