Monday 6th May saw Cadwell Park host Modified Live, a bank holiday bonanza. The event offered a bit of something for everyone. A smoke show was on offer from the talented guys at Drift works. Including an LSX powered BMW E36 and an E92 M3 with a 2JZ heart. The E92 was especially interesting with it’s red and blue tyre smoke!
The Time Attack racing series were in attendance and on display on the North’s most famous circuit. From Noble’s to K20 Peugeot 205’s to Mitsubishi Evo powered Ford KA’s! The cars running in the Time Attack event were brimmed with aggressive aero dynamics aids, all resembling something from the Batmobile. The Time Attack series is all about setting fastest lap times. All cars are grouped and put into classes. This made for some great action, watching as drivers pushed their cars further and further, harder and harder.
To allow the public to get involved with the racing, there were two 15-minute public sessions. The field varied massively, from a Nissan GT-R and BMW M4 battling out up front, to a Peugeot 306 D Turbo ‘reeking’ it’s way around the track, which was brave in the 23-degree heat, in a car prone for boiling over! The pack also contained a Honda Integra Type R which managed to hold off an on-paper-faster Mitsubishi Evo.
All in all, another awesome outing at Cadwell Park. With great trade stands and great on track entertainment, it was well worth the £20 entry fee. Modified Live is a must-go for car lovers, especially those into the modified track toys.
